#Regram #RG @pedromcbride: City by a Rising Sea: I’ve witnessed a lot of changes visiting Cuba for nearly two decades — from Fidel passing to American cruise ships now steaming into Havana’s harbor. While many of these changes — some small, some large — revolve around politics, there is one change that surprised me recently which has less to do with Cuba’s politics, but all to do with global impact. Climate change has brought a new challenge to Cuba’s shores and particularly Havana’s famed Malecon which sits behind an ever eroding sea wall. Larger swells and tides now flood the Malecon more frequently carrying the sea much further into the city. Swimming is now prohibited in spots along the famed historic hangout due to dangerous higher seas. During one calm morning, I took a plunge with a Cuban kid who says he “loves the sea when it is calm, but fears it often now”. #climatechange #cuba #malecon #sonyactioncam #petemcbride
