Presented in Marrakesh, Morocco, the meeting point between Europe and Africa, #MariaGraziaChiuri for her #DiorCruise 2020 collection initiated a dialogue with myriad cultures. Here the concept is explored through white dresses in leather lace transposing motifs through plays of cut-outs and cotton embroidery to evoke guipure, a traditional embroidery technique of couture, notably in France and Switzerland. Through this hybridization of references and savoir-faires, our Creative Director in her creations sought to project a collective memory, a common territory that is open to every kind of possibility.?? #DiorCommonGround??

Authentic Wax print fabrics by @Uniwaxciv dyed in indigo were one of the main through lines of the #DiorCruise 2020 collection by #MariaGraziaChiuri. The striking designs blend the factory’s savoir-faire with Dior codes including 'tarot cards' and 'toile de Jouy'. The factory’s design studio reinterpreted two of the House’s signature motifs: ‘toile de Jouy’ and ‘tarot’ cards, giving rise to a special edition done in 100% African Wax (from cottons grown, spun and printed in Africa), under the Uniwax Special Edition Christian Dior label. #DiorCommonGround

Setting the tone: in a show based on a rich dialogue of savoir-faires and cultures, the opening look from the #DiorCruise 2020 collection by #MariaGraziaChiuri - presented Monday at the El Badi Palace in Marrakesh - paired a beige wool coat with hand-painted henna details and a fringed hem made specially for the event by the women weavers of Sumano with a black dress with exquisite mirror embroidery. @sumano.co, an association that also collaborated on the show's scenography, is dedicated to preserving the ancestral savoir-faire of Morocco's women weavers and pottery makers.
